Half Had Not Been Told to Me: The African American History of Lafayette Square

Lafayette Square is a unique landscape with a rich African American history -
a history that is unfortunately not often told. This spring, Decatur House shares the little-known stories of Africans Americans on the Square in a new audio walking tour, Half Had Not Been Told to Me: The African American History
of Lafayette Square
. The tour debuted on April 16, in celebration of Emancipation Day in the District of Columbia, and is offered free of
charge, seven days a week, using a surprising new technology - the cell phone.

Participants only need a cell phone and tour map, available at Decatur House, and they will be on their way to exploring the rich African American history of the neighborhood of the president.

- Available indefinitely, pick up maps during our open hours
