Half Had Not Been Told to Me: The African American History of Lafayette
Square
Lafayette Square is a unique landscape with a rich African American history
-
a history that is unfortunately not often told. This spring, Decatur House
shares the little-known stories of Africans Americans on the Square in
a new audio walking tour, Half Had Not Been Told to Me: The African
American History
of Lafayette Square. The tour debuted on April 16, in celebration
of Emancipation Day in the District of Columbia, and is offered free of
charge, seven days a week, using a surprising new technology - the cell
phone.
Participants only need a cell phone and tour map, available at Decatur
House, and they will be on their way to exploring the rich African American
history of the neighborhood of the president.
- Available indefinitely,
