Decatur House is located
one block north of the White House on Lafayette Square, on the corner
of H Street and Jackson Place. The museum entrance is located at 1610
H Street, NW.
Directions:
From
Virginia:
Coming from 66 East, take the E Street Exit on the left side of Roosevelt
Bridge. Follow exit around to the right and continue on E Street. Take
a left onto 17th Street (Corcoran Gallery of Art will be on your left).
Take a right onto H Street. The Decatur House Museum is on the right hand
side and sits on the corner of H Street and Jackson Place.
Coming from 395 North, cross
over the 14th Street Bridge and follow 14th Street across Constitution
until I (Eye) Street. Take a left onto I Street. Take a left on 17th Street,
then an immediate left onto H Street. The Decatur House Museum is on the
right hand side and sits on the corner of H Street and Jackson Place.
From
Maryland:
Coming from Connecticut Avenue, take a right onto 17th Street. Turn left
onto H Street. The Decatur House Museum is on the right hand side and
sits on the corner of H Street and Jackson Place.
From
Baltimore/Annapolis:
Coming from Route 50, which will become New York Avenue. Turn left onto
9th Street. Turn right onto New York Avenue by the side of the Convention
Center. Stay in the left hand lane; it will become I (Eye) Street. Stay
on I Street in left lane until 17th Street. Turn left onto 17th Street
and another left onto H Street. The Decatur House Museum is on the right
hand side and sits on the corner of H Street and Jackson Place.
By
Metro:
Coming on the orange and blue lines, get off at the Farragut West station.
Take the 17th Street exit and up the elevators; go to the right and then
around the corner (Park Place Gourmet on the right). Cross over H Street.
The Museum is straight ahead on the corner of H Street and Jackson Place.
Coming on the red line, get
off at Farragut North station. At K Street, head towards Farragut Square
by walking down 17th Street and turn left onto H Street. The Museum is
on the right hand side and sits on the corner of H Street and Jackson
Place.
Parking:
Several garages are located near the Decatur House. Street parking is
extremely limited, especially on weekdays. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SECRET
SERVICE HAS PLACED RESTRICTIONS ON PARKING IN THE WHITE HOUSE VICINITY.
Visitors are encouraged to take metro.
